What's New in DC on Mobile?

The VAS Platform (v1) mobile app was originally released in 2018 to connect VAS PULSE users to their herd while out on the farm. Since then, mobile technologies have come a long way, and we are currently developing a more robust and powerful DC on Mobile (v2) app!

Major enhancements include the following:

Review the Minimum Requirements on the VAS website before installing the mobile app on iOS and Android devices.

IMPORTANT: If you use RFID scanners, make sure your iOS device is compatible with your version of the mobile app: 
  • VAS Platform (v1): iOS versions 18.3.2 and lower. Do not upgrade to iOS versions 18.4.0 or greater and be sure to disable automatic updates in iOS settings.
  • DC on Mobile (v2): All recent iOS versions, including 18.4.0 and above.

DC on Mobile Release v1.12 - February 2026

DC on Mobile v1.12 includes the following enhancements and bug fixes:

Enhancements

  • New playback sounds added to hospital worklists: The following sounds have been added to make it easier to quickly check and manage the animals on your hospital worklist:
    • "Bo-Bip": Plays when you scan an animal and open the CowCard.
    • "Treatment Date Future": Plays when the event date is after todayClosed Today's date.
    • "Test for Residue": Plays if an animal is past the last day of treatment and their MKDATClosed Milk withdrawal date is today.
    • "Evaluate and Hold": Plays if an animal is past the last day of treatment and their MKDAT is after today.
    • "Ready for Beef": Plays if an animal is past the last day of treatment, their BFDATClosed Beef withdrawal date is today, and their MKDAT is prior to today.
  • Multiple TRANSFER event enhancements:
    • Since embryos are commonly bought in batches with identical parentage and lab details, you can now copy TRANSFER event details and apply them to several animals at once. This saves time and ensures your records are accurate. See Copy Event Details to learn more.
    • When you add a TRANSFER event on the app, you can now enter information for Embryo Owner, Lab IDClosed Identifier, and Lab Embryo ID.
  • Source farm number display order is now fully supported: The app now recognizes and includes dots in source farm IDs (i.e., 12.3456 with 12 being the source farm identifier).
  • Improved animal search for service sires: When you search for a service sire, the app now displays results for any matching sire ID, regardless of type (NAABClosed National Association of Animal Breeders. www.naab-css.org Code, Name, or Registration Number). Previously, the app only displayed results for the preferred sire ID type.
  • iOS devices now support BLE scanning technology: iOS devices can now scan tags using scanners with BLE technology.
  • Optimization and performance enhancements: This version includes a significant technology upgrade to improve performance, reliability, and stability across the entire app.
  • Fixed an issue where some unprocessed, local transactions were erased, but not removed from the Transaction log.
  • You can now save alphanumeric values for Item Type #31 and #33 items (i.e., NDPRS1, NDPRS2, RESP, USDA, VISIDClosed Visual ID or ear tag number, etc.).
  • When you view protocols in a hospital worklist, remark details are now fully shown.
  • The app now displays the correct fresh and frozen embryo inventory counts.
  • Resolved several cosmetic issues including inconsistent column widths, overlapping buttons, and headers that weren't fully visible.
  •  Known Issue  If you quickly switch between the To Do and Done lists, then try opening a worklist, the app may crash. Restart the app, then open the worklist.
  •  Known Issue  During the FRESH event, the Save button becomes disabled if you enter a new value for a calf ID, then re-enter the old value. Tap the Back button and reopen the calf screen to update the ID and save your changes.
  •  Known Issue  The following known issues related to the new copy event data from the last animal enhancement exist in this version of the app:
  •  Known Issue  If you tap animals in grid mode too quickly, the next animal selected may not open. Wait until the previously selected animal closes before selecting the next animal.
  •  Known Issue  If your iOS device is on operating system version 26.0, you may see a "No permission granted" message when connecting a scanner (even if you have allowed the app to use Bluetooth). You can disregard this message. Devices on other iOS versions are not affected. See Troubleshoot Scanner Connections for help connecting your scanner.
  •  Known Issue  When selecting to Undo a task on ToDo worklist, the task closes rather than leaving it open with the option to Mark as Done.
  •  Known Issue  You may notice slower RFID scanning speeds in this release, which we're working to resolve as soon as possible.
  •  Known Issue  Events with incomplete information may be sent to Platform when you tap Process All Changes buttonProcess All Changes at the top of a worklist. VAS is working to resolve this issue in a future release, but we recommend always completing all required information when entering events.
  • Workaround If you enter an event on a vet list, undo it, and then attempt to add another event, the vet list changes cannot be processed and sent to PULSE. To avoid this issue, use one of the following workarounds:
    • Use the Events screen to enter the events in the DC on Mobile (v2) app. See Events to learn how.
    • Manually add the event directly in PULSE. See Enter Events (v2) to learn how.
    • Use the VAS Platform (v1) mobile app to enter vet list events until a hotfix is released for the DC on Mobile (v2) app. See Create a New Event or Edit an Existing One to learn how.
  • Workaround In Events or Tasks, the RFID Scanner toggle may be on when your RFID scanner is not actually connected. Close and reopen the app, and then reconnect to the RFID scanner to resolve the issue. See Connect Your RFID Scanner to learn how.
  •  Known Issue  When you open a newly added worklist for the first time, the app might crash. The app will not crash the next time you open the worklist.
  •  Known Issue  MyDC ONLY When you process Open Tasks in Online Mode, the app indicates how many animals need to be processed. However, when you process Open Tasks in Offline Mode, the indicator may not be displayed even if animals need to be processed.
  • Workaround If you work with multiple users and/or dairies on the same device, the app may show data for the previously viewed user or dairy. As a general rule, VAS recommends always refreshing herd data after switching to a different user or dairy. See Refresh Herd Data in Online Mode to learn how.
  • Workaround If you turn on Airplane Mode on your iOS device, Bluetooth is turned off automatically. You can turn Bluetooth back on in settings, and it will stay on until you turn it off or toggle Airplane Mode off and on again.
  • Workaround If you complete a penClosed Pen number correction for an animal, the app updates today's open worklists and changes the pen information for the animal to the corrected pen. The correction won't apply to yesterday's or older worklists, so you need to refresh your worklists to see the updates. See Refresh Herd Data in Online Mode to learn how.

DC on Mobile Release v1.11 - November 2025

DC on Mobile v1.11 includes the following enhancements and bug fixes:

Enhancements

  • NEW FEATURE Offline editing for CowCard items: You can now Edit Items from a CowCard while in offline mode. Any changes you make will automatically be processed when you are back online. See Online & Offline Mode (v2) to learn more.
  • NEW FEATURE Copy event details to multiple animals: You can now copy event details and apply them to several animals at once. This option is helpful when you're entering the same event—like a vaccination or treatment—for multiple animals. It saves time and helps ensure your records are accurate. See Copy Event Details to learn more.
  • ENHANCEMENT CowCard item updates are now logged: The Transaction Log (v2) now records any updates you make when using the Edit Items button in the CowCard.
  • Custom sounds now play properly for tasks when an RFID scanner is connected.
  • All vaccine options configured for VACC event REMClosed Remark or comment definitions are now available on the Events screen when entering VACC events.
  • Previous breedings now display properly when tapping the CDATClosed Conception date field for a PREV event in online mode.

DC on Mobile Release v1.10 - October 2025

DC on Mobile v1.10 is now available, and includes the following enhancements and bug fixes: 

  • Edit items from a CowCard: You can now use the Edit Items button to update select items (online mode only). See Edit Items from a CowCard to learn more about working with items from the CowCards and to see a full list of items you can edit from DC on Mobile.
  • CowCard tab improvements: We updated our CowCard tabs by replacing text labels with clean, intuitive icons to make navigation simpler. The icons from left to right are:

    • Daily Milk

Bug Fixes

DC on Mobile Release v1.9.7528 - July 2025

DC on Mobile v1.9.7528 includes a hot fix for customers who cannot open their dairies after refreshing their herd data and downloading the previous version of DC on Mobile, v1.9. Download the latest version of DC on Mobile, v1.9.7528, to avoid this issue.

DC on Mobile Release v1.9 - July 2025

DC on Mobile v1.9 is now available! We continued to focus on bug fixes and performance improvements in this release, including resolving some major issues from previous releases:

  • Vet Lists improvements: You can now delete events directly from a Vet List and we improved the visibility of the reason for a vet check (VETCClosed Reason for vet check) in the vet list screen. See Vet Lists to learn more about checking or treating animals on a Vet List.
  • CowCard tab improvements: You can now view more details in the Events tab and the Tests tab, as well as use the new View Dates button in the Lacts tab to check the dates of your animal's latest lactations! See Manage Animals (v2) to learn more about working with CowCards in DC on Mobile.

DC on Mobile Release v1.7 - October 2024

DC on Mobile v1.7 is now available! We continued to focus on RFID scanner performance in this release, and we expanded the following enhancements and improvements:

  • RFID scanning is now even faster! See RFID Scanners (v2) to learn more about using scanners.
  • The new Transaction Log feature now includes search, filter, and sort options to help you quickly find transactions you've completed in the past 14 days. See Transaction Log (v2) to learn more!
  • When you scan an animal in a pen, the SCPENClosed Last scan pen ID is also included in the Transaction Log. This provides a handy visual cue while monitoring the changes for a specific pen.
  • We removed the sign-up feature from the log in flow. If you want to sign up new users, see Invite a User to Your Dairy. To deactivate a user, see Remove a Dairy User.

DC on Mobile Release v1.6 - September 2024

We continued to focus on feature parity with the original version of the app (v1), and also included the following enhancements and improvements:

  • DC on Mobile now keeps track of some user actions. A new Transaction Log feature is now available on the More menu! Use this feature to view a list of transactions you've complete in the app over the last 14 days. See Transaction Log (v2) to get started!
  • A new My Account feature was added to the More menu. Use this new feature to update how often DC on Mobile requests your PIN when logging in to the app. See My Account to learn more!
  • We continued to improve RFID scanner performance in this release and also included an RFID option when adding an event. See RFID Scanners (v2) to learn more about working with scanners!
  • Worklists in DC on Mobile now support the new task types in PULSE, and you now have the ability to view and mark these new task types as done.

Bug Fixes

  • When a tag assigned to an animal is scanned on the Events tab, DC on Mobile now adds the animal to the event.

DC on Mobile Release v1.5 - June 2024

DC on Mobile v1.5 is now available to our beta testers! We are continuing to focus on feature parity with the original version of the app (v1), as well as the following enhancements and improvements:

  • BLE scanners are now supported. See Tips for Using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Scanners to learn more!
  • We've improved RFID scanner performance and added the RFID option to the Tasks tab. See RFID Scanners (v2) to learn more about working with scanners!
  • The app now includes an online help link. See DC on Mobile (v2) to check it out!
  • The ABORT event now includes validation for the date and only displays the Lactation Cycle field if the animal is eligible to start a new lactation cycle.
  • Open Tasks sounds are now enabled to make processing your lists quicker and more intuitive.
  • The app now supports adding a Donor that is not in the herd.
  • CowCard data from PULSE now automatically updates when your device is online.
  • The app now uses a standard event EDAYClosed Event day value: the local dairy time at midnight in UTCClosed Coordinated Universal Time, also known as Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
  • Worklist updates sent to PULSE now include the Pen ID.
  • The app also includes improved localization for Brazilian Portuguese, transaction log enhancements, and other requested improvements. We've also resolved multiple functionality issues.

Known Issues

  • When adding FRESH events, if CBRDClosed Cattle breed (calf breed) is included in the list of items to prompt for CALF, the value will not be accepted. As a workaround, do not include CBRD in your Items to be Prompted for New Calves. You can then add CBRD from web by opening the calf from the Animals List and editing its details.
  •  Known Issue  The Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection is not supported on RFID scanners in this release. Connect your devices with Bluetooth Classic until we are able to resolve this issue, but please note that iOS devices only support BLE connections on some scanners. See Tips for Using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to learn more.
  • Workaround When adding events from the CowCard or from Worklists, pens may not be filtered to show only the pens defined for the event. Pens are filtered properly when adding events on the Events tab.
  •  Known Issue  When you select all pens, search for an animal, and Complete or Skip a task in Open Tasks, a sound may play more than once and the Done tab icon Done tab may display.
  •  Known Issue  When you Undo an animal on the Done tab icon Done tab in Offline Mode, return to the To Do tab icon To Do tab for the worklist, add an event, and tap Mark as Done, the button may not change to Undo. When this occurs, do not tap Mark as Done again, as the animal was actually marked as done and moved to the Done tab icon Done tab. Tapping the button again will cause an error to display.
  • Workaround If you tap Refresh Lists button Refresh Lists at the top of the Tasks screen and navigate away from the screen before all worklists finish downloading, the refresh may fail. Close and reopen the app, and then refresh your worklists again to resolve the issue.
  •  Known Issue  The date range filter was removed from the Transaction Log screen and will return a future release.
  •  Known Issue  Pen validation changes made in offline mode are not shown in the Transaction Log until you are back online and your changes sync to PULSE.
  • Workaround On iOS devices, an unsuccessful pairing error may occur when you attempt connection to an RFID scanner after switching dairies. Close and reopen the app to resolve the issue.
  •  Known Issue  If you delete an event and then add a new event for an animal, the deleted event is still displayed on the Done tab icon Done tab for the worklist even though it was deleted. When you send your worklist data, the deleted event will not be sent to PULSE.
  •  Known Issue  When you pick an event from a worklist on an iOS device, harmless duplicate event warnings may be displayed.
