Add Zoetis Genomics Sample Data
If you collected genomic samples and did not use a Pocket CowCard scanner to automatically assign the genomic sample data to an animal, you can manually assign the genomic sample data to an animal using PULSE, DC on Mobile, or DC305 DairyComp 305 - VAS Dairy Management Software.
To assign genomic sample data to an animal, you must update the animal's genomic sample items (GSAMP and GSDAT) in its CowCard:
- In PULSE, open the animal's CowCard.
- In the Items tab, click the GSAMP field, enter the animal's genomic sample ID Identifier, and save your changes.
- Click the GSDAT field, enter the date you collected the sample, and save your changes.
- Repeat these steps for every animal you sampled.
- In DC on Mobile, open the animal's CowCard.
- In the Items tab, tap Edit Items at the bottom of the page.
- In the GSAMP field, enter the animal's genomic sample ID.
- In the GSDAT field, enter the date you collected the sample.
- Tap Done to save your changes.
- Repeat these steps for every animal you sampled.
Check the top of your PULSE page to see if your dairy has DC Unlimited or MyDC.

- In DC305, open the animal's CowCard.
- In the Items tabs, double-click the GSAMP field and enter the animal's genomic sample ID.
- Double-click the GSDAT field and enter the date you collected the sample.
- Repeat these steps for every animal you sampled.
- In DC305, enter
GSDAT=%DATE_SAMPLE GSAMP
in the command line. - Enter the date you collected the animal samples.
- Enter the animal ID and the genomic sample ID for the sampled animal. Repeat this step for every animal you sampled.
- Press Enter twice on your keyboard to complete the batch entry.
After you update the genomic sample items, you can submit the genomic samples to Zoetis in PULSE. See Submit Zoetis Genomics Samples to get started.
